Make this light, airy whipped ricotta dip in minutes. It is a creamy cheese dip perfect for entertaining, topped with a sweet and spicy hot honey drizzle for a crowd-pleasing appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 15 ounces whole milk ricotta cheese, drained if very wet
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons honey (for drizzling)
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (for hot honey)
  • Crusty bread, crackers, or vegetables for serving

Instructions

  1. If your ricotta is very wet, press out excess liquid using a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth.
  2. Place the drained ricotta cheese, heavy cream, lemon juice, salt, and pepper into a food processor.
  3. Process the mixture for 2 to 3 minutes, scraping down the sides as needed, until the dip is completely smooth, light, and airy.
  4. While the ricotta is whipping, prepare the hot honey: Gently warm the honey and red pepper flakes in a small saucepan over low heat for 1 minute, or microwave for 15 seconds. Do not boil.
  5. Transfer the whipped ricotta dip to a shallow serving bowl.
  6. Drizzle the warm hot honey over the top of the dip.
  7. Serve immediately with your choice of dippers.

Notes

  • For a savory version, skip the hot honey and drizzle the dip with high-quality olive oil, fresh herbs like chopped chives or basil, and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.
  • You can make this creamy cheese dip up to 24 hours ahead; store it covered in the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before serving.
  • This ricotta dip recipe works well as a base for other toppings, such as chopped pistachios or a balsamic glaze.
