Make these classic cream cheese mints that melt in your mouth. This easy, no-bake candy recipe uses just four ingredients and is perfect for holidays, weddings, or baby showers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon pure peppermint extract
  • 4 cups powdered sugar, plus more for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  2. Add the peppermint extract to the cream cheese mixture and mix until combined.
  3. Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed until fully incorporated after each addition. The dough will become stiff.
  4. If you want to color the mints, divide the dough into sections now. Add a few drops of food coloring to each section and mix until the color is uniform.
  5. Place the dough on a lightly powdered sugar-dusted surface. Roll the dough out to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  6. Use small cookie cutters, candy molds, or a fork to shape the mints. If using a fork, press lightly to create a crisscross pattern on top of small balls of dough.
  7. Place the shaped mints on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Allow the mints to dry uncovered at room temperature for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, until they are firm to the touch. This drying time is key for the melt-in-your-mouth texture.
  9. Store finished cream cheese mints in an airtight container.

Notes

  • For a beautiful presentation at weddings or showers, use pastel food coloring like light pink, blue, or pale green.
  • You can freeze these homemade cream cheese mints for up to three months. Place them in a single layer in a freezer-safe container separated by wax paper.
  • If you prefer a different flavor, substitute almond extract or vanilla extract for the peppermint extract.
